1. Select your location, you will need to select a location for your interview. Find a quiet room with minimal background noise and no distractions. Make sure you have adequate lighting (preferably natural) and that nothing is distracting behind you.
2. Test the Technology, familiarize yourself with the necessary equipment and software. Make sure that your microphone and speakers are working and that your internet connection supports high-quality live video. Also, check and make sure you are using a professional screen name that will be easy for the interviewer to recognize.
3. Dress professionally. Even though you are not meeting your interviewer in person, it is still important to dress professionally.
4. Think about your skills and experience that could be relevant to the research project. Write them down and memorise them. Remember, the more you have to mention in the interview, the better you will look.
5. Think of questions to ask research mentor. During the interview, research mentor may ask if you have any questions. If you ask at least one question, it will show that you have prepared. It also shows that you are keen and interested in the future project.
6. Concentrate on what you're talking about. Try not to um and err too much; be precise, and end your answers with a clear conclusion to lead you into being asked the next question.
